In June 2021, Feroldi called Stoffel. It started out cordial, but became slightly awkward. Stoffel could sense an ask was coming.

We had worked together at The Motley Fool for 10 years -- having launched a popular streaming series called "Stocks from Scratch" during the pandemic. But the program had recently been canceled. And let's be honest: we had only met once in real life.

Then came the moment:

Stoffel chuckled to himself: there was no reason for Feroldi to be nervous. The show was fun, allowed us to socialize regularly, and trying something new sounded great.

But what neither of us could ever have expected is where this would go. Consider the five years since:

• Over 1,000 people have joined us for investing courses or as members of our private investing communities.
• Over 10,000 have downloaded one of our e-books or investing visuals.
• Over 100,000 people have signed up for this newsletter
• Over 300,000 people have signed up for our YouTube channels

Despite how good those numbers make us feel, they aren't what moves us the most.

Instead, it's the real-life interactions with real humans that truly awe us.

That all came to a head last week when we made our first trip to Berkshire Hathaway's annual conference. We let our premium community members know that we were going and asked if anyone wanted to meet up in person.

Thankfully, several of them said yes:

These are people we've known digitally for a few years. We meet every Friday on Zoom to discuss stocks, trends, markets, AI, life, and so much more.

But while Zoom conversations are great, nothing beats an in-person conversation. Relationships build 10x faster when you're sitting at a table talking to people who share your same passions.

These conversations were worth their weight in gold. They truly fill our cup.

In fact, it went so well that we're already planning our next in-person meetup.

We also had a meetup with some of our fellow financial creators (Pieter from Compounding Quality and Kris from Growth To Value) and invited our newsletter readers to join.

It's always a thrill to meet people who found us through Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, or the Motley Fool. We love meeting people who also love investing.

And we can't wait for pictures like these to grow and become more diverse over time -- to include even more people who, like us, are united by a common commitment: to think long-term about our finances, so that we can remain focused on all of the non-financial things that make for a life well-lived.
